 Minutes: Brenda Magee, Director of Secondary and Adult Community Education, provided Board Members with a Semi-Annual Academic Business Plan (ABP) Update and highlighted the following areas: Focus of 2006-2007 ABP workshops; Focus of today's ABP workshop; What we learned from studies in the corporate business world; and We must ensure fidelity of implementation. Ms. Killets summarized: How do we continue to ensure our best implementation; Why have an Academic Business Plan; Operating Budget; Staffing all schools with the most highly qualified teachers; Professional development aligned to impact student learning; Intensive interventions for students with the most severe needs; Capital Budget; Educational Data Warehouse; Educational Technology; On-Line Assessment; and Instructional Television Services. Board Members discussed: Impact of K-12 Literacy Mandate; literacy coaches; graduation/promotion; Read 180; and reading recovery.
